More than one hundred people attended the New Frontiers in Epilepsy Therapy + Care for Women with Epilepsy on February 4, 2017. The Symposium was held in partnership with the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Los Angeles and UC Irvine Health at the Hilton Waterfront Beach Resort in Huntington Beach.

Keynote speaker, Dr. Cynthia Harden, of Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York, kicked off the morning before UCI Irvine Health faculty furthered the conversation about topics of interest to women with epilepsy, their loved ones and healthcare professionals who provide care to women. Topics covered the spectrum across life cycle – from catamenial epilepsy to breastfeeding to menopause. Other topics included bone health, surgery and medications. A panel of women with epilepsy also greeted the crowd to share their stories and experiences.

For those who missed out on attending the Symposium, you can join us at our End Epilepsy Summit in April. We will certainly be addressing women’s topics then, too!
