End Epilepsy intern and Teen Speak Up advocate meets with Congressmen

TWL Epilepsy Foundation Photo CailinEnd Epilepsy’s summer intern, Cailin Stroyke, made a visit to Congressman Ted Lieu’s office this week to talk share her story and talk about issues concerning the epilepsy community. 

Cailin, a 16-year-old with epilepsy from Manhattan Beach, CA, said she and the Congressman discussed the Charlotte’s Web Act and that Rep. Lieu reiterated his support for CBD research. She also noted that he “seemed to be very open and positive towards the CARERS Act and Compassionate Access Act.”

Cailin and Rep. Lieu also discussed the upcoming Walk to End Epilepsy and gave the Congressman an invitation and walk materials. When we asked Cailin for her impression of the meeting and she said, “It was awesome to meet with him…. He was very attentive and I really felt listened to my points about epilepsy and was very interested in my story. Maybe if I see him in DC next year we will be just like old friends!”
