Care and Cure Institute

Care and Cure Institute

The Care & Cure Institute was established to fund medical fellowships for pediatric epileptologists with the sole purpose of mitigating and eliminating the catastrophic effects of epilepsy. Since 2006, we have partnered with many of the major medical centers in the Greater Los Angeles area, raising over $30 million dollars that have funded the medical training of 45 Care & Cure fellows… and counting.

Our “Moon Shot”

To expand the mission throughout the United States by seeding a $30+ million ...

Our “Moon Shot”

  • About 50% of cases begin in infancy, childhood and adolescence
  • Seizures can have devastating effect on the developing brain including mental retardation, functional limitations, learning delays, and many result in early death
  • Early intervention is crucial to prevent and minimize the negative impact of epilepsy
  • There are simply not enough doctors to meet the demand for specialized epilepsy care and families often have to wait up to 6 to 12 months to see a specialist if one even exists in their city
  • Epilepsy is the most common serious brain disorder worldwide with no age, racial, social class, national or geographic boundaries
  • About 65 million people in the world are affected by epilepsy and 3.4 million in the USA

Meet the Care & Cure Fellows

To-date, Care & Cure Institute has funded 45 pediatric epilepsy fellows.

Meet our Founders

When our founders’ children were born and experienced catastrophic seizures, we learned of the critical shortage of pediatric epileptologists in the field of medicine.

The Institute held its 15th annual gala, Care & Cure – A Benefit to End Epilepsy, on October 14, 2021 at Paramount Pictures Studio in Hollywood. Guests united for the purposes of funding a genetics fellow at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, honoring Jim N. Gianopulos, Chairman and CEO of Paramount Pictures, and celebrating the accomplishments of funding 45 pediatric epileptologist fellows in the past 15 years.

In the event’s featured video, we first take a look back on the travesty that was Los Angeles — among one of the most advanced cities of the world, had a critical shortage of specialists to care for children with seizures and epilepsy — and end with the positive impact of Care and Cure.
